8. Water Street
Water Street, with its views of Old Harbor and unique shops and restaurants, is the heart of Block Island, and the perfect place to reward yourself for completing the walking tour! Whether you’re looking for a t-shirt or a one-of-a-kind painting, you’ll find it here. Designers even offer an exclusive Block Island jewelry line of beads and bracelets. And if you’re not a shopper, we’ve still got what you want -- from sweet treats at the Ice Cream Place to local brews at the Mohegan Café & Brewery. (About the only shopping you can’t do on Water Street comes on Wednesday mornings, when there’s a popular farmer’s market selling local food, artwork and crafts that takes place on the lawn of the Spring House Hotel. It’s up Spring Street just past the 1661 Farm.) If you’re looking to find your way back to the Visitor Center and ferry landing from the sidewalk across from the National Hotel, it’s about 50 yards down the street on your left.
