Rogues & Scoundrels Walking Tour
Newport is a great place for holiday fun, both before and after Christmas, but to focus the story just a little, you should check out the happenings at The Museum of Newport History and Shop.
Throughout the holiday season, walking tours depart from The Museum of Newport History and Shop, which houses an award-winning museum that is the pride of the Newport Historical Society. Rogues and Scoundrels – which tells tales of pirates and criminals from when the colony was known as “Rogue’s Island” – is among the 75-minute walks, and recurs regularly through the season – December 15, 22, and 29 to be precise, all at 10:30 AM (Tickets are $15 per person; $10 for active and retired military with ID; $5 for children ages 5-12). If you’re not into scoundrels, there are a number of other tours: the Newport Holiday Lantern Walking Tour, Discover Colonial Newport Walking Tour, and Colony House Site Tour among them. Length of tour and prices are same as above, but note that all are popular enough so walk-in space may not be available – reservations are required.
