Fallfest at Misquamicut

Sad to say, the summer has past. But at Misquamicut State Beach in Westerly on the weekend of September 13 to 15, you won’t be able to tell, with a three day party they call Misquamicut FallFest. (And besides, technically, summer lasts until September 21!)

The FallFest feels like a country fair on the beach, with a midway featuring carnival games like Skee Ball and Whac-a mole and traditional rides like bumper cars, a Tilt-a-Whirl and a fun house (don’t miss the great view of Block Island Sound you get from the top of the Ferris Wheel).. Roving entertainers like stilt walkers and fire jugglers perform non-stop; music acts including Tom Wopat (Luke Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show) perform on the main stage (with a new beer and wine garden nearby). If you like classic cars, there’s a show Saturday and Sunday from 11-3. If you like food, you’ll find more than a football field’s worth of food trucks.  Should you ever get bored, there are more than 50 crafters selling their wares.

Hours for the FallFest are 5-11pm on Friday; 11 am- 11 pm Saturday; and Sunday 11-5. Tickets are $8 a day, with kids under 4 free; on site parking is also free. Amusement rides are extra -- $1 per ticket, with discounts the more tickets you buy (rides take 3, 4 or 5 tickets) – but if you come on Sunday, and all-day wristband is just $25.
