Art Providence Holiday Show

It’s holiday time, and chances are you’re looking for that special something for that special someone. If that’s the case, the annual Art Providence Holiday Show at the Rhode Island Convention Center is where you should head.

This is the successor to the RISD Alumni Holiday Sale, where artists from the world-famous Rhode Island School of Design gathered for 22 years to create can’t-miss shopping. It’s now a juried show open to artists from all backgrounds, but the caliber of the work and the artsy spirit of the old show remains.

Two hundred exhibitors from throughout New England and beyond display their wares on the convention show floor. They include artists of every kind – jewelers, wood workers, and weavers along with photographers, printmakers and sculptors – and will appeal to everyone from casual holiday shoppers to serious collectors. Even kids will have a good time, with print-making activities in the Kids Corner.

The show runs Saturday (10 AM- 6PM) and Sunday (10-5) with admission $8.50 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. If you’re too engrossed to stop for lunch, Local Food Favorites are available 1-4 PM both days ($7 adults’ $5 kids).  If you really want to go whole hog, you can get a VIP Access Badge which gives you all weekend access to a VIP suite adjacent to the show floor, a drink from the cash bar, free access to sample the Local Food Favorities, and even complimentary gift wrapping and a neck massage. It’s $50; but it’s just $40 with a code:  use ARTVIP20 at checkout.
